Segopotso is a practice of recognising, making, carrying and sharing knowledge. It foregrounds the act of returning to historical moments, re-enacting through gestures that offer ways of re-membering and inhabiting a past, understanding how certain moments continue into the present. Segopotso articulates narratives that are situated outside of formalised holders of history and heritage. Concerned with the autonomous practices embodied by the communities of Alexandra (north of Johannesburg), Segopotso seeks to recollect, remind and re-member.
